The company which implemented Torbay’s controversial new rubbish collection scheme have been criticised today by Tory councillor Kevin Carroll.

The scheme has led to thousands of complaints from angry members of the public, something which Mr Carroll has apologised for – but he insisted ‘it’s not their mess’.

He believes that councillors are taking ‘unfair flack’ and ‘May Gurney are the ones with the expertise’.

Tor2 staff worked throughout the weekend in a bid to catch up with the backlog of bin collections after the first week of the new system.

The first chapter of the Mayor’s vision to regenerate the centre of Paignton has just been written.

A new £6.4million pounds library and information centre has opened its doors for the first time.

The facility includes a new state of the art library, media suite, and centralised facilities for a number of agencies.

The project was funded by Torbay council and the Big Lottery Fund.

Roadworks in Kingsteigton will result in road closures until Christmas Eve.

The scheme is being funded by Devon County Council and is set to cost £2.5million pounds in an effort to provide a package of transport improvements.

The closure has resulted in Old Exeter Road from the Broadway Road junction to New Cross junction being closed off until December 24th.

Pharmacies across the Bay are working closely with Torbay Care Trust in a bid to offer free Chlamydia testing kits to young people.

The initiative is aimed to allow young people to pick up a test and look after their sexual health.

Under 25’s can pick up the kits free of charge to take home.

Now, she’s worked with some of the world’s leading choreographers, and appeared as one of the leading ballroom dancers in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

However, a Devon based ballet dancer who spent ten years dancing around the world has returned home to launch a new school for ‘Ballet babes’.

Victoria Rogers’ new ballet school ‘Tiny Tots Ballet’ is aimed at youngsters aimed at two to five years.

Onto Sport now, and in Cycling the ‘Tour of Britain’ is set to hit Teignmouth.

Devon based sprinter Jeremy Hunt is hotly tipped for a stage victory in a tough 112 mile climb - which starts at Minehead and finishes this afternoon at Teignmouth seafront.

And elsewhere in sport Torquay United striker Elliot Benyon won’t be involved in today’s reserve friendly against Forest Green Rovers.

The 23 year old missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Accrington Stanley due to a knee problem and won’t be risked by manager Paul Buckle.

Finally onto the weather, and it should be a cloudy start with light rain spreading gradually across most parts during the morning. This should clear by early evening leaving brighter spells, and westerly winds should ease. Temperatures are set to range from 10 to 19 degrees celcius.
